Faith Christian Academy offers every student the opportunity to develop their vocal skills, by offering various levels of vocal training. All elementary grades, K5-6, are involved in group lessons on a weekly basis, not only to help them develop a joy for music, but to help them prepare for various competitions and other opportunities to sing, such as our weekly chapel services, concerts, and various other venues. As early as fourth grade, students who desire individual instruction may apply for private voice lessons. Those lessons may continue throughout their years at FCA up to and including twelfth grade.
In addition to our elementary music program, our junior high and senior high students are given the opportunity to participate in various groups, including choir, ensembles, and smaller groups. Our students utilize their acquired skills each spring during the North Carolina Christian School Association Elementary Fine Arts Competition. Over the past decade, FCA elementary vocal groups have placed every year in competition, including four 1st place finishes. Our junior high and senior high vocal groups have placed in ten NCCSA competitions, including four 1st place finishes, with multiple superior ratings. In 2011, our Senior High Choral Group competed nationally in the American Association of Christian Schools Fine Arts Competition. Our senior high students have also enjoyed great success at the annual TriCom (a multi-state competition formerly known as SACS) competition.
